So you just got engaged – (HUGE congrats!!!) – and you’re trying to decide which photographer is right for you. There are a ton of factors to consider, but today I want to really one in on why it’s important to click with your photographer.
You can’t always force this one, you just have to go with your gut! Below I’m sharing 3 quick points to help you know whether you do in fact have a mutual vibe.
To put it simply, do you feel comfortable with them? After all, you’re hiring them to capture the most intimate day of your life. You want to feel at ease with them. Photographers are a vendor that spend most of your wedding day with you. If you don’t feel like yourself with them, the experience of your wedding day will be affected. Feeling at ease with the person behind the lens will make your day much more enjoyable!
Having a connection with your photographer is important to gain that comfort-level I just spoke of. Are they approachable? Are they helpful with planning for your wedding photography?
Once you start to have the comfort and connection with them in everyday life, you’ll start to develop a relationship with them. Now, not only are you gaining a husband/wife but you’re gaining a friend! This improves your pictures because you can be your fun/silly/serious self with your photographer. You can have fun because you can trust them to take care of you. Which brings me to my last point…
When you hire a photographer, you hire their skills and expertise to ensure you get beautiful images that you can cherish forever. You need to be able to trust their judgment and skills to do the job well. Trust is important to lend to their creativity and to help you have an enjoyable wedding day. When clients don’t trust their photographers, doubt sets in. You tend to question their skill set, micromanage their creative outlook, and not let them do what you hired them to do. This can be a recipe for disaster. Trust is vital for your photographer to provide you with well-documented and beautiful wedding images you will love.
They may sound like 3 simple things, but without them, the quality of your experience is going to suffer. You don’t want that, they don’t want that. Just because your BFF hired someone for their wedding, doesn’t exactly make them right for you! Consider what’s important to you, how you feel in their company, and follow your instincts!
I hope this helps!
